The Day Before Tomorrow

When you live for a strong purpose, then hard work isn’t an option. It’s a necessity

"

Whilst still celebrating the gradual recovery from the 2008/09 economic recession in 2010, little did we know that 2011 will throw up new realities to further contend with. Indeed, 2011 was by all means tumultuous. The Arab Spring brought in its wake blood, tears and sorrows. The global financial crisis deepened, with the Eurozone suffering a major hit and even the BRIC countries, which recently propelled the global economy, all experienced slow growth.

Undoubtedly, 2012 has begun on a nervous note amidst serious concerns for the future of global peace, stability and economic growth. Yet, this is no time to fret; as the traditional Chinese saying goes: heroes are made by the times. Difficult times are opportunities to explore our deep mental capacities and further exert our physical strength for the realization of pre-determined objectives. The human mind is the base of development and the potency latent in it is common to all; varying levels of development across the world only demonstrate how well some have exploited their mental capacities than others.

Tomorrow is what we make of it today and our desire for a greater future for our dear country must not rest on our lips alone. It is not enough to daily lament our slow pace of development without earnestly committing our efforts and activities towards reversing the trend. Theodore Roosevelt put it most aptly when he enthused: “It is only through labour and painful effort, by grim energy and resolute courage, that we move on to better things.”

If the consensus is that we can improve our conditions, then we have a common purpose. All that is required is to put words to action. Man and woman; old and young; leaders and followers; the task for a better tomorrow for Nigeria belongs to us all and we must start today.

We at the Honeywell Group wish all Nigerians a peaceful and prosperous 2012.

LET US PRAY
Dear God, we thank you for the gift of life and the grace to witness a new year. As we continue in our strive towards a better future for ourselves and generations unborn, grant us the courage to do the right things always and the strength to cling on to our collective vision; even as we humbly ask that You crown our efforts with good success.
